Happy Friday, everyone!
Long time no see! Yesterday, a few Powell Playhouse company members visited the Shades of Development groups at Powell Elementary and Karns Elementary. There, we had the opportunity to hang out with the coolest kids in Tennessee! These kids were SO enthusiastic about theatre; it was such an awarding experience!
We began our presentation with vocal warm-ups. Then we moved on to play some of our favorite improvisation games. Let me tell you, those kids are incredibly smart and unbelievably creative!
Colby Russell Benjamin (actor: A Nice Family Gathering, The Night of January 16th) led the kids in warm ups and games.
Melody McMahan (actor: The Night of January 16th, backstage: Everybody Loves Opal, Crimes of the Heart, A Nice Family Gathering, The Night of January 16th) led a make-up demonstration.
Carly Johnson (actor: The Night Is My Enemy, The Diary of Adam and Eve, The Night of January 16th, backstage: Steel Magnolias, Arsenic and Old Lace, Driving Miss Daisy, Everybody Loves Opal, Crimes of the Heart) was a floater and did anything Colby, Melody, or Paula asked!
Paula Johnson (backstage: Everybody Loves Opal, Crimes of the Heart, The Night of January 16th) led the entire endeavor with her weeks of planning, excellent teaching skills, and trusty minivan!
The Shades of Development students will perform plays of their own TONIGHT! If you want to see these talented kids have a blast onstage, see their Facebook page for more information!
